praise "Profit from Learning" scheme |

Astralux employees have been taking part in a
Profit from Learning training scheme. The scheme offers
qualifications in a range of subjects from retail to warehousing.
Over the past year more than 20 operators have been working towards
their NVQ's at Level 2 in Assembly Operations.

John Woodrow, Financial Director, said: "We
have a reputation for quality and customer satisfaction, and to
maintain that unique selling point we need well trained and
qualified operators. Training is a top priority for us".

Fred Aldridge, Production Operator (pictured
left), has worked at Astralux for the last 17 years. He said:
"Profit from Learning has made a huge
difference to how I feel about the job and how I feel about myself.
It was a challenge at first, as
I hadn't done anything like this before, but now I feel I'm able to
do my job better and have a qualification that confirms this".

Janice Logie, Director of Workforce Development
at LSC (Learning and Skills Council) Essex, said: "Astralux
is a superb example of how Profit from Learning is making a
difference. This is not just another training initiative. It is a
scheme that is bringing tangible differences to companies and
individuals in Essex. Astralux is cast iron proof of that".
